When our 13-year-old miniature schnauzer, Milo, went back to heaven last year, we were devastated. It became crystal clear very fast that our house was not a home without a schnauzer in it. Milo had been his Papa’s constant companion throughout years of illness and recovery from liver transplant surgery and, although his Mama missed him horribly too, his Papa needed a little buddy desperately.
Enter Atticus (formerly Wade). On November 21, 2018, a day before Thanksgiving and Atty’s 4-month birthday, Greg and I drove through snow squalls in spite of the warnings on PA I-80 to pick up our new baby miniature schnauzer. He was a shade under 10lbs., a dark charcoal with white beard and legs, and was loaded with personality. He wasn’t a replacement for our beloved Milo but has become a little brother of sorts and another angel sent to save us from ourselves.
Now, a month or so over a year old, Atticus is a very happy, healthy and loving little member of the family. Spoiled? Maybe just a little. 😉 Thank you so much Erla. The love and care with which you and your husband breed your puppies is so much appreciated.
